Sweet Georgia Brown Extract Kit

  • Description
  • Q and A

Not too hoppy with 7 HBUs of Galena for bitterness and a specialty grain bill of medium crystal, chocolate and wheat. There is a touch of sweetness from a half pound of lactose and a cup of brown sugar added during the last 10 minutes of the boil. Sweet Georgia Brown will remind you of an English style brown ale.

Kona Koko Brown Ale

I like Kona Koko Brown Ale but it is sometimes hard to find where I live. I used this kit as the basis for my own clone. The only modification was to add 2 pounds of UNSWEETENED toasted coconut in a large steeping bag 15 minutes before the end of boil. I actually think this clone is better than the original because it is less syrupy. SOME TIPS: Unsweetened roasted coconut is hard to find, but is available through Amazon from "It's Delish." Also, put a heavy ceramic item, like a big coffee cup in the steeping bag to help weight it down during the boil, because the coconut is light and the bag tends to float to the surface rather than submerge.
Owner Response:Thanks for the review, Tim AND for the additional recipe idea! I'm already tasting that cocounut! Cheers! Bryan & the GF Team
