Pinot Grigio is relatively new to California, but production has really taken off! This varietal, also known as Pinot Gris, is thought to be a mutation of Pinot Noir. The juice and resulting wines can vary in color from deep golden yellow to slightly amber, and can sometimes display ligth shades of pink. The wines tend to be tropical and zesty, with a refreshing acidity. The California variety tends to have flavors of lemon and is slightly tart, with rich citrus notes and a full body.
