Originally developed in Japan during the 1970s for Sapporo Brewery, Sorachi Ace is a unique hop that has become popular worldwide since its commercial release in 1984. Not available in the United States until 2006, it has quickly found favor with brewers because of its unique aromatic and flavor Characteristics. It is mainly known for its distinct citrus characteristics, often described as lemon, lime and dill. However, other descriptions of the hop's flavor and aroma characteristics include white flowers, tea and coriander. A number of commercial breweries, including Brooklyn Brewing and New Belgium use Sorachi Ace in their beers, and it is growing immensely in popularity among home brewers as well!
