It's the beer of the living dead! This Zombie Dust Clone is loaded with Citra hops that invigorate the senses and engage the palate. A very light first wort hop addition keeps the bitterness down, while hop-bursting the beer and aggressively dry hopping with Citra hops give it a very pronounced hop flavor and aroma. The bite of Citra is offset by crystal 60L and melanoidin malts, which contribute body, sweetness and character to the beer, A touch of carapils for body and foam stability is included as well, perfectly balancing this beer. Delicious and inviting, Brain Eater Pale Ale is sure to please your hopheaded friends. It is the perfect beer for the impending zombie apocalypse!

Brain Eater = Great Clone
The kit was great, I especially like that the hop additions are all pre measured. Not a huge deal but one less thing to deal with on brew day. The fermentation went well and I used a starter to kick things off. Numbers ended perfect and I took a taste before force carbonating. It was good, nice and solid with a great citrus smell. First taste after carbonation was disappointing. The beer did not really have much character and I was unimpressed. A friend of mine had made a run to Indiana and brought back some Zombie Dust that we were intending to use for a side by side tasting. We were both a little busy, so it was about two weeks after my initial taste. Well, two weeks was the perfect amount of time for this beer to condition. It didn't taste exactly like Zombie Dust, but very similar and we liked them both equally. I will be brewing Brain Eater again. It is an excellent kit.

I brewed this about a month and a half ago, and the results were phenomenal. I mashed a little higher, resulting in a slightly fuller, sweeter brew than Zombie Dust, which finishes bone dry. Both are Citra bombs, and I must say that I preferred the home brew version to the real deal. Will definitely be brewing this one again.

I need more!
I originally brewed this to tap it for The Walking Dead season premiere... This batch will not make it to that date! I need to brew it again! Everything about this kit was perfect. The grains smelled great and my efficiency was high. The color really resembles the original beer. I used the Wyeast option and made a yeast starter. As I've been measuring gravity I've been tasting samples and am very impressed with the flavor. I look forward to doing a side by side test to see how close this recipe gets. Cheers!

Great Kit and Recipe
GF has always taken care of me. This is a great kit and recipe. Citra bomb is right! I'm a hop head through and through, and this delivers. Brewing kits give us introductions to our own creations, and I have ideas with this one to build on my own taste. I mashed low to increase fermentability, used conan yeast to bring out the hop flavor, and added 1/2 pound corn sugar to continue drying out the beer. The melanoidin and carapils help with the mouth feel. In the future, I plan to eliminate the crystal and up the Munich, as well as swap some 2 row for Maris otter/pale ale/pearl at around 50%. I also want to diversify the hops. Maybe mosaic/columbus/?..Thank you GF for showing us how to brew what we like!

Buy with Confidence
Purchased kit while passing through Indy. First time using Citra and G.F. and am very pleased. Great combination of malts and a boat-load of Citra. Never had a Zombie Dust so I can't compare. All I know is it kicked way too fast and it is definitely in my rotation. I used Wyeast PC-1217 West Coast Ale.

Best beer I've brewed
After searching in vain for Zombie Dust I figured I'd just try making it myself. I found this site and bought the all-grain kit. Let me tell you, forget about Zombie Dust; this Brain Eater is the best beer I've brewed and the best pale ale I've ever had. I let it age a month after bottling, and it was excellent. It's now been two months and the beer has mellowed and gotten even better! I'll definitely be making this beer again. Highly recommend to anyone who likes pale ales; you won't be disappointed!
