Fresh Catawba grape juice for your winemaking pleasure! Catawba grapes are an American cultivar that was developed from a cross between vitis labrusca and vitus vinifera grapes, and has a long history in American winemaking. While these are technically a red grape, the wines made with them are often a rose or pink color due to minimal time on the skins. They have low color compounds and tannins, which makes them perfect for rose or white wine production. They have a distinctive foxiness in their aromas which lies somewhere between that of Concord and most vinifera grapes. A lovely grape for making wine that grows well in the midwest and east coast of the United States, try making your own Catawba wine from fresh juice!
