Pilsner-Urquell is known as the original light golden-colored Pilsner beer. This yeast comes from the source, via Wyeast, to you! Light fruit and flower notes come through in the nose, giving way to a crisp, clean and very dry flavor profile on the palate. Light malt with a nice, full mouthfeel, it is a very neutral yeast that makes very pleasing beers. While Bohemian Lager is the standard beer often produced with this yeast, its characteristics make it a fairly safe choice for many types of light lagers.

We include complimentary ice packs with ALL liquid yeast orders (if required), but cannot guarantee that the ice packs will stay cold during transit, and thus the yeast can potentially be exposed to hot temperatures. We highly recommend ordering dry yeast during the hot summer months or if you are ordering from a warmer climate. Many times during the winter an ice pack is not needed so we make the determination based on current temperatures and the destination!

Slow one, be patient
Slow to start, slow to finish

Owner Response: Thanks for the review! While the 2001 strain can be a bit slow, it also helps to make sure you pitch enough when lagering! For a five gallon batch, we'd recommend 3-4 packs (4 to be safe) if not doing a starter. With a starter, you'd want a 2L starter to get enough yeast. Best of luck in the future. Cheers! Bryan
