They may take our lives, but they will never take our yeast! ...Or something like that. Introducing Tartan, a strain of Scottish ale yeast from Imperial Yeast! Tartan has all the classic characteristics of a Scottish yeast, yielding delicious, malty beers with excellent clarity. It has a wide fermentation temperature range, so you can ferment it cool, just like beers were traditionally made in the Scottish Highlands. This yeast makes an excellent house yeast, being good in not only Scottish ales and strong Scotch ales, but can also be used on a range of malt-forward ale styles, such as milds and porters. This yeast will produce clean beers at lower temperatures, and more estery, fruity characteristics when fermented warm. Definitely a wonderful yeast to use for traditional Scottish ales, but give it a try anywhere you are looking for a strong malt backbone. Alba gu brath!
ICE PACK INCLUDED
We include complimentary ice packs with ALL liquid yeast orders (if required), but cannot guarantee that the ice packs will stay cold during transit, and thus the yeast can potentially be exposed to hot temperatures. We highly recommend ordering dry yeast during the hot summer months or if you are ordering from a warmer climate. Many times during the winter an ice pack is not needed so we make the determination based on current temperatures and the destination!
